Warm-Up 1

This is the post to which you add your Warm-Up 1 task as a Comment (i.e. click on the Comment button below). When you add your Comment, don't forget to write your name on the post! You'd be amazed how much detective work I sometimes have to do to find out who actually wrote the comment!

Warm-Up 1 asks you to write a personal presentation for a web site. This is a general message that goes out to everyone who visits the web site of the new company you've just got a job with. I.e. it needs to be informative, but a bit general - and a good piece of advertising for your new employer. In other words, you need to show how smart your new employer is for hiring you!

You'll find a couple of useful links on the Warm-Up 1 page: one from the 'How to Do Things' site with some general advice, and an example of personal presentations from the Ericsson company.

When the Warm-Ups have all been marked and sent back (by me, David), I'll post a general comment in a post on this blog, with advice for everyone about Send-In Task 1.

  1. My name is Emmy and I am the new CEO at Påveryds Projectering.

    I am born and raised in Växjö in Småland so I am well informed about the environments around Västervik. I have lived in Gothenburg since my College Graduation but my heart have always belonged to Småland.

    I have been studying for many years and gained a great knowledge in for example Law, English, French, National Economy, Psychology, Witness Psychology, Engineer’s Methodology and Thermodynamics. I have also been on an exchange term in Milan in Italy. I am going to use all my knowledge to make Påveryds Projektering to an even more successful business than it is today.

    I believe in teamwork! As a former handball player I know what it is to work hard, together in a team against a certain goal. I have also felt the fantastic feeling of, together with your teammates, reaching the goal set out. At Påveryds Projektering my new colleagues are my new teammates. We have together formulated a clear goal. We will be the best Projection Entrepreneur in Småland in five years and together we are going to reach it!

  2. Chongmi Lee: Tourism coordinator

    Born in 1991, Osaka in Japan. Bachelor of English General Course in International Relationships of Ryukoku University. Studied General English and Swedish in Linnaeus University in Sweden for 1 years.

    She generates imaginative ideas and attempts to start the new projects positively.

    When she was a junior high school student, she visited Melbourne as one of the delegates of sister cities project between Osaka and Melbourne. Since then, she has open mind to foreigners and foreign cultures. Also, as herself is Korean in Japan, she can understand outsider and have broad view of thinking.
    Therefore, her ideas are considerate especially for foreign tourists. And she also likes traveling, thus she can see standpoint of the customers.

    I have been working for Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad since I graduated from Linnaeus University.
    I am originally from Taiwan. Working in a multi-culture environment has inspired me in many ways. With my Asian background , It will help the company to work closer with Asia economies and also internationally.

    I studied Economic History in university,during those years I started to realized the importance of production and innovation. That's why I decided to devote myself to manufacturing industry. With my experience in production, manufacturing and supply chain management, the company will soon be adapt to the rapid changing global market. My vision is to improve the quality of our products, understand the need of the market and being efficient.

    I am energetic and goal oriented. I always set clear and achievable goals for my team and myself both personally and publicly. Being sensitive about time is one of the work I focus on daily. After all, efficiency and quality are keys to a great manufacturing company.

  4. Vesela Vancheva, Chief Managing Director of the Västervik Experience.

    Vesela has extensive work experience in marketing and tourism and has been part of the management boards of several small hotels and tourist agencies in Europe. She has been involved with project management for startup companies in the tourism business in Eastern Europe. Vesela is particularly passionate about supporting local companies in their search of funding and network building. She takes strong interest in fresh initiatives promoting unexplored tourist destinations and unique local facilities.

    Prior to joining The Västervik Experience, Vesela held a position within the EU Travel Commission. Her responsibilities there included strategy development to enhance visibility of the emerging European tourist destinations and project coordination to help small and medium-sized enterprises in Europe seize global investment opportunities.

    Due to her international work experience, Vesela has learnt to adapt quickly and efficiently to various working environments. She has developed excellent interpersonal skills and has become an effective communicator as well as a successful negotiator.

    Ms Vancheva holds a B.A. in Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality Management from Vancouver Island University and an M.B.A. in Project Management from Lund University, Sweden.

  5. Born 1982 in Gothenburg, Sweden. We are delighted to present Darko Balaban as the new Chief Executive Officer of Påryd Projektering.

    Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Jönköping.

    Prior to joining Påryd Projektering Darko came from the successful Oil and Energy Company, Royal Dutch Shell where he for the last 5 years was working as a Supply Chain Manager based in Moscow, Russia. Before that he held a Project Management position within the Information Technology Department in same company based Hungary.

    Darko is a down to earth guy, innovative, service minded and highly determined when it comes to driving for improvements.

    With these key components we strongly believe that Darko is right person to lead Påryd Projektering towards new goals, towards a brighter and more exiciting future for this company!

    Marketing manager for the Västervik Experience. Born 1985 on the Åland Islands in Finland, Bachelor in Business Management and Marketing from Univeristy of Gothenburg. Compete in triathlons, enjoy outdoor activities all year round, and relax with crosswords.

    I grew up in a similar environment to Västervik, and have from a young age been involved with the tourist business on the Åland Islands. I have been involved with guide groups, museums, hotels, and camp sites, which gives me great knowledge in how an area like Västervik can attract people from all over the world. In Australia, I was the head hunter for a spa and holiday resort on the Gold Coast, a major tourist area on the east coast. While living overseas I worked closely with people from many different cultures, especially from the eastern market. This experience will be of great advantage to the Västervik Experience.

    Human Resource professional, possessing six years of experience from an international setting. Developed new successful methods of personnel progress. Lived and worked in several countries such as Sweden, UK and Japan. Holds a B.A. in Business Developing.

    From prior experiences I learned that a stable personality and social skills is vital in order to manage well; as well as an ability to see the bigger picture. This is something that I achieved by being clear about who I am and in my interaction with others. Working abroad has given me the experience of international business relations. I am flexible and used to adapt various rolls depending on the situation.

    With great pride, hopes and expectations I look forward to take on the task as the new manager of Påryd Projektering and lead the company to future successes and accomplishments.

    I have my roots in Thailand and that is also where I gained my Bachelor degree at the Mahidol University in Bangkok. My academic background lies in Event management and Marketing.

    For many years I have been working in Thailand as a freelance event coordinator for various newspapers such as The Nation, The Bangkok Post and The Phuket Gazette. I have also done a great deal of PR assignments for a number of international hotel chains such as Four seasons, Hilton and Aman resorts.

    This background has enabled me to progress to where I am today, a person with hardworking abilities and an innovative mind with a keen eye for details.

    With this new role ahead of me there is not enough words to emphasize my enthusiasm about leading this company to success.

    First of all I would like to thank Ella Svedin and Påryd Projektering for having confidence in me to lead the company towards greater success.

    Previously I have worked a lot in England and France as a business consultant and I have also run several small and medium sized businesses since I studied business administration and economics at Linnaeus University.

    I strongly believe that running a business requires hard work and a good team spirit, but most of all, having a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit. These are qualities that Påryd Projektering in some sense possesses but it is also here my experience comes in handy.

    Together we have set clear goals and I am really looking forward to see how fast we can reach them. Påryd Projektering is an incredibly interesting company that within the next five years will have earned a good reputation on the market for its work.

    I graduated from the University of Jönköping with a Bachelor of Social Science in Media- and Communication. After my graduation I worked a couple of years in Stockholm before moving to Austria. In Austria I worked at a Skischool as their Marketing Manager and I also got the chance to improve my snowboarding skills.

    Elin Petersson has a Degree of Master of Science in Business and Economics from the Linnaeus University. Prior her employment here she has 5 years of experience as a Business Consultant at a mid-sized company in Sweden called Flexia.

    Ms Petersson has also studied Computer Science for 3 years in Sweden and she has a strong belief that companies today should take advantage of the modern technology in their day-to-day communication.

    As a Business Consultant she got used to adapt to various roles and she is also flexible, but still believe that an organization should be well-structured so everyone know their roles and tasks. From her previous employment she also developed good communication skills and she loves to meet and learn about new people.

    Her main focus in our business will be to manage the Chinese contacts and make sure the development of Chinese investments are running efficiently.

    Malin comes from a strong academic background and has been in the business for many years.
    Prior her employment she worked at Västtrafik AB as Business Manager assistant. Before that she worked in China for 5 years, therefore she speaks fluently Chinese.

    Her challenge is to make Påryd Projetering AB to an attraction for everyone and also everywhere. Her focus will be to take care of the Chinese contacts and also make new potential collaborations in the Asia area.

    She is a service minded and creative person and we believe that this will appear in her daily work.

    Charlotte Avestedt, born 1987 in Stockholm, Sweden. She has an education in Basic Law from Gotland University. Charlotte is based in Sydney since three months back.

    Prior to Påryd Projektering, Charlotte worked with Public relations and communication. Above all, she has worked with companies that have had major communication challenges or limited opportunities. Charlotte also has experience in finance, law, recruitment and personal planing.

    He had a bachelors education in Economics, Anadolu University, Turkey.He had a master education in Marketing, Anadolu University, Turkey.He’s still stuying marketing as a PhD. candidate at the same university. Studying to get his second bachelors degree from business department from an Open Learning University (Distance University). He worked in Eskisehir custom as a traniee for three months.

  16. Presentation of Lina Bergman, the new Business Manager at Påryd Projektering

    My name is Lina Bergman and I would first of all like to say that I am very happy to join Påryd. I believe Påryd has great chances to expand and I look forward to be a part of that journey and success.

    I grew up in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, and was very early used to the business and international atmosphere in the city. My interest of travelling has taken me around the world and has taught me a lot of things about myself and other cultures and people. Except from my knowledge from travelling I have experience from different types of work and studies. I have been working with developments in international companies as IKEA and McDonalds and I have also worked with economy and law at an international law firm in Rome. I have a Law degree from the University of Stockholm, a degree in Economics from Stockholm School of Economics and I have taken a course in Environmental Science and one in Business Development at Linnaeus University.

  17. Malin Jessen has a Bachelor degree in Work science from Halmstad University and she has studied international Human Resource in Amsterdam. Malin grown up in the summer-city, Falkenberg and tourism has always been a big part of her life. Her first summer-work was to sell is-cream at the beach and since then the works have been many more (and more exiting). She knows the importance of networking and collaboration, not only internal! It is necessary to collaborate and network between companies and different industries. The biggest achievements are the ones she has achieved in a team, not only in business – she played football in Falkenbergs FF in over 10 years.     Project Manager at Påryd Projektering AB

    Born in Berlin, Bianca Dietz graduated as a Bachelor of Science Business Information Systems in an integrated degree program at Berlin School of Economics. During that time she gained a lot experience working on projects in a mid tier, but also at a large German aviation company. Always to the customer‘s entire satisfaction she fulfilled programming tasks, but also organised and managed the projects.

    After finishing her bachelor studies she started her masters studies at the University of Applied Sciences for Business Studies and Technology in Berlin. She gathered international experience during an exchange semester in Växjö, Sweden and enriched her language skills speaking German, English and French and learning Swedish. By the end of 2012 she graduated with distinction.

    She found her personal challenges in running, especially long distances competing in half marathons. Furthermore she enjoys sailing and is a passionate photographer.

    With her extensive experience, strength and exceptional charisma she‘s a enormous enrichment for our company. We are glad that we can welcome her as one of our project managers.

  20. Nils Norén, appointed to new Managing Director of Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad.

    Recived an B.Sc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Chalmers University Of Technology in 2000 with additional English studies In Hong Kong.

    After a couple of years working in Hong Kong and Singapore as Export Manager for major steel companies, my family and I last year decided to move back to our roots in Coutry of Småland.

    The extensive network I gained during my years in global trade and leadership is an important benefit towards Alsjöholms Mekaniska Verkstads positioning in the segment. The grewing competition, especially from the Asian market have turned us to be even more flexible and technically developed; Things I have deep knowledge and experience in from my past positions in the Steel Industry.

    I am very proud to take Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad into new goals and to manage the special ”spirit” that is well known for Småland and for Alsjöholms Mekaniska Verkstad as well.     My name is Andrey Komarov and I am new business manager at Alsjöholm. First thing I would like to say is that I am very happy to work with such a great team like Alsjöholm and to see where our cooperation will lead us.

    I was born and grew up in Moscow, Russia, where we have really different traditions from what you have in Sweden and especially it concerns the way to maintain a business. I studied Finance in Russian University of Economics and after that worked for two years in the consulting firm as project manager.

My name is Jimmy and I recently left my position as head of productions at Atlas Copco Sweden. I think that my experience in lean manufacturing together with all existing competence gathered at Alsjöholm will lead us to a bright future.   24. My name is Tomas Jonsson, and I am the new Head of Business Development for Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad AB.

    I was born in the northern part of Sweden and have studied Industrial Organisation and Economy at Jönköping University. I have also studied International Business in Sydney and Industrial Management and Innovation at Uppsala University. I have more than 10 years of experience in strategic marketing, sales and business development, primarily in the life science and steel industry. My latest employment was three years as a Global Brand Manager for ArcelorMittal, stationed in Shanghai. I have extensive experience within industrial strategic marketing and a wide network of possible suppliers and customers in Asia. One of my special abilities is to integrate R&D and market, and get them to work towards the same goal.

    I have decided to settle down here in Nybro and felt that Alsjöholm Mekaniska was the perfect company for me. The company shows a large potential and I believe that with a larger market share in Asia, we can grow and become one of Sweden’s leading supplier of door-closers.

    Filippa Skoglund Born in Stockholm, Sweden.
    She has worked in the hotel and service business in 3 different countries around the world. Even though she is only 20 years old Filippa has already managed a bachelor in Economics at the Stockholm University she has also studied leadership and communication. Three years ago Filippa started her own business in marketing, in the beginning of 2012 she moved to Copenhagen with her colleagues to expand their operations to the international market.
    She has always been a good teamworker and leader. She is a very creative person with good ambitions and solutions and she has a very big social network Filippa skoglund- i am very delighted to be a part of this company, I like to discover , explore and develop new ideas.

    In the past, Mr Peterson has brought several small Nordic light engineering companies to success in the market, and we are confident that he is the right person to develop and execute new marketing strategies for Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad.

    Our new Marketing Manager here at Västervik Experience is Caroline Klaar.
    She was born 1988 in Umeå, Sweden, but has spent the last couple of years in the US, studying Communication and Marketing in Boston. She is an ambitious and driven young woman who will fit perfectly into our team here at Västervik's Experience and we are happy to have her joining our team and helping us improving and making us stronger on the market.
    Her work here at Västervik's Experiece at the Marketing department will mainly be focused on the international strategic communication with Asia and USA.

    Caroline has, despite her young age, an impressive amount of experience and knowledge in teamwork as well as independent work. Her creativity and positive thinking has taken her far and given her an incredible resume. We are proud to have her in our team.

    Business Manager at Påryd Projekting

    Born 1986 in Kalmar, Sweden. Essentially business developer with bachelor in Enterprising and Business Development as well as a master degree in International Leadership Management partly executed abroad.
    Has main experience in process development, customer relations along with project managing and planning. Previous positions at Smurfit Kappa AB as Account Manager and at Atea Logistics AB as Project Manager.

    In the position of Business Manager Linn Danielsson will be responsible of supporting workforce to high quality service, personnel, dealing with sales and accounting and are in charge of research and development. Linn Danielsson will also lead a new business project towards the quality certification of ISO 9001:2008 during 2012.

    Natalie Franzén, Business Manager

    Born 1985. Studied entrepreneurship and economics at Jönköping International Business School and Linnæus University.

    Natalie has worked successfully with project management for a long time in several industries such as IT, telecommunications, logistics and construction. She has been working national in Sweden as well as international, especially in Northern Europe. Natalie is now ready to face new challenges and is thrilled to be working with our new China-contract.

    With this experience and because Natalie is young, creative and purposeful she has been chosen to be the Business Manager of Påryd Projektering. To lead the company forward and towards new targets!

  35. I have an engineering degree in Industrial Economy and Production from KTH and I have studied one year abroad on the course Industrial Engineering and Management at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon.

    Now Alsjõholm Mekaniska Verkstad AB, a small but highly competent manufacturing company, offered me a position as their marketing engineer. I am thrilled! What an opportunity to use all the knowledge I’ve gained during my years as a student, having done marketing and strategic plans for industrial companies both in Sweden and Portugal.

    Both professionally and in private I am dedicated to whatever task I have at hand. I’ve always been somewhat efficient, but even more so since my son was born 1,5 year ago. There is nothing as multi-tasking as a parent.

    Now I’m full of ideas and looking forward to take on this new assignment. The global market offers many opportunities; it’s just a question of understanding how to make the best out of them. Alsjõholm is a company with tradition and know-how that produces a wide range of products. Together as a team we will create and implement a perfect strategic plan which keeps the company on the right track!

  36. Boris Fontaine is appointed the Chief Marketing Engineer of Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad AB, toward the development of our product range.

    Born 1984, in Saint Malo, French nationality, he has an Engineer’s Degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering from the National Institute of Applied Science – Rennes, France and a Master of Industrial Management from the University of Linnaeus, Sweden.

    After an internship during 6 months in Rottne Industri Ab (Rottne, Sweden), he has worked as Marketing Engineer in this company for the past three years.

    In fact, he has been living in Sweden, more precisely in the Småland region, since 2007. He appreciates the industrial core and the cultural melting pot of this region. He speaks French, English and Swedish (at a moderate level). Boris Fontaine is someone with an inquiring mind and with an insatiable appetite to learn, he has a passion for both information and communication technology and Scandinavian history.

    We can rely on him to strive to be a fully functional team player for our company.

    Mikael Olsson

    Born 1987 in Sweden. Graduated a Bachelor degree in Marketing and Economics, year of 2009.

    Former company owner in the Marketing Business, Mikael has worked with some of the biggest car companies in the world and have developed many good marketing strategies, in particular, the release of the new Volkswagen Golf.

    Mikael say that, being CEO required the ability to make decisions, be proactive and flexible and also in some context have a supervisory and coordinating role.

    With former experience of leading a company and achieve goals we feel that Mikael will fill the missing spot in our team, therefore, we welcome him with our best confidence as the new business manager at Påryd Projektering. His main project will be to expand and develope our new Chinese contract.

    Event Manager at Västervik Experience

    I am happy to announce I am the new Event Manager of Västervik Experience. Since I received a Bachelor Degree in Tourism Management in 2010, I have had the opportunity to travel and experience the tourism market abroad. Working for STS, Student Travel Schools as an Activity Manager in Oxford, UK, gave me amazing experiences when it comes to leadership, planning and coordinating. At the moment I am just back from working in New Zealand as an Event Assistant at a golf resort in Canterbury where I have been organizing mostly weddings and conferences.

    I know my experiences abroad will help me to develop an even more entertaining Västervik!
